Global Positioning Equipment is actually a full-fledged system that provides almost the precise positions. For this purposes it uses a wide satellite network with the help of an antenna and receiver. Both the singlebeam echosounder and multibeam sonar are used to determine the depth of points from the sea floor. The singlebeam echosounder emits a single high frequency of sound pulse in the water at continuous intervals. On the other hand, a multibeam sonar emits an array of high-frequency beams of sound pulses at continuous intervals. It provides the bottom coverage of cent percent which is not the case in the former equipment.

Another important geophysical equipment is the Sidescan Sonar. Its main purpose is to sketch out all the objects under the sea. The sonar transmits an acoustic beam at the angle of 90 degrees from the path of the instrument and out to every side. Some amount of incident sound energy is reflected back. This energy develops due to the roughness of seabed and the objects on it. The sonar receives this energy, amplifies it and then sends it to the data recorder. The images are then produced by the sonar system which are highly accurate.
