Surveying Equipment And Land Surveying Methods

Surveying is a method that is used to determine and locate the three-dimensional position or terrestrial position of the points, distance and angles present between them. The method of land surveying is decidedly old. However, now there are many advanced gears that are being used. In the older days, the machinery was not that advanced. But they were still able to locate the points on the surface. The surface we are dealing here is earth. There are many reasons for land surveying. The one main reason for surveying the land is to locate the position on the land. There are lots of lands surveying methods that are being used these days. The use of advance techniques for the surveying of land has made it possible to locate several such points which would be extremely difficult to identify.

There are lots of applications of land surveying. The most powerful application of land surveying is to observe and measure the field accurately so as to build the property on that land. There are certain legal instruments that are used for land surveying. These instruments are known as land surveying equipment or gears. There are various types of survey equipment that are used for land surveying. There are some significant people that are involved in the function of land surveying. The surveying equipment has many types. The use of lasers is now done in the survey of land. The instruments provide the data according to which the construction is done. This is the perfect way of construction, and there are truly less chances of errors in this method. There are several survey equipment types that are used for the surveying of land.

The pure basic surveying equipment used in the late 1990s was tape measure. This was the one such instrument that was used for the measurement of short distances. There are other applications of this instrument also. The other ways this was used in the measurement of elevation or height differences. The measurement of horizontal and vertical angels is also possible with this instrument. For the measurement of angles, the tape measure is set on a tripod. This process was used for the triangulation. The later development of the survey equipment led to the invention of more modern instrument known as total station. This is a theodolite but different from the tape measure. In this instrument, the use of aleuronic system is integrated. The device is loaded up with the electronic distance measurement (EDM) system. This is more advance and more accurate than that of tape measure. The use of digital data for the measurement has made calculations simpler. The other use of this total station instrument is to level the horizontal plane. This way, it offers multiple functions. The use of electronic device for the measurement has made people use more advance things for the survey of land. Therefore, there is a shift from the conventional methods to fully advanced electronic methods. These are straightforward and accurate too.

There are lots of changes in the technology of the total stations. The total stations were previously being loaded with the reflector or prism. The reflector was used to return light that were used for the distance measurements back to the source. This way the data was calculated. However, this was a highly advanced technique but still it was time consuming. There were many developments in the total stations. Now these machines can be used without any manual help. They have become fully automated, and there are lots of advance technologies that are fitted in them. The use of automated systems has made the survey equipment more beneficial and less time consuming. Now, the prisms or reflectors are not used in the total stations. These machines have become so advanced that they can even e-mail the point data to the officer that is located unusually far. The technology has become exceedingly advanced. The invention of many positioning systems such as satellite positioning system and Global Positioning System has made it easier to work with the land surveying. Now, the use of real-time kinematic GPS systems is done. These have increased surveying speed up to many times. These are horizontally accurate up to only 20 mm and vertically up to about 30 – 40 mm.

The use of total stations is done widely for the surveying of land now days. There are other instruments that are simultaneously used along with the total stations such as GPS systems. The measurements that are provided by the total stations are precise. There are robotic total stations available that are extremely helpful in the accurate measurements. There are several places where GPS cannot work. The places that are covered with dense trees have fewer chances of getting GPS work all rites. However, the robotic total stations are remarkably efficient in this method.

One more instrument used for land surveying, which is little expensive than the total station is laser survey equipment. The use of laser level as survey equipment has many benefits. The process is lot simpler. The use of laser level is done by affixing it to a tripod. The leveling is done and then the laser is spun so as to illuminate the horizontal plane. There is a rotating head present for the laser projector. There is a mirror that allows sweeping of the laser beans about the vertical axis. There is a moveable sensor that detects the laser beam. This is an exceptionally sturdy and accurate method for analysis of the land for construction. For a larger land, use of helicopters equipped with the laser sensors is done. The helicopters surround the land and the surveying is done by the laser level. The sensors on the helicopter record the data and analysis are done. This is the most advanced method for the survey of larger land. This is also highly expansive method so used only for the survey of vast land areas. The development of survey equipment has given people a better chance to construct well and better by searching and leveling the faulty points on the surface.

3D Laser Imaging Videos and Their Application

By Jimmy Drago
If your company still uses traditional surveying methods, it may sound strange that 3D laser scanning videos can play a vital role in the surveying process. However, companies that use laser surveying instead of traditional surveying methods have discovered that 3D laser imaging videos can improve the quality of their projects from both technically and conceptually.
